Dimitri Croaker – Congo Espresso Coffee

Blackberry • Jammy

Dimitri Croaker is a psychedelic little fella. There’s a rumour going around that if you lick his back, you can see God.

We strongly recommend just drinking the coffee.

This fully washed Bourbon comes from the mountains of South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It’s clean and juicy, with a big hit of ripe blackberry and a thick, jammy sweetness.

One sip and the walls may start breathing.

🇨🇩 Congo Coffee Ireland – Something from the Other Side

Dimitri’s latest trip takes us to Kalungu in South Kivu, where coffee is grown high in the mountains at 1,484–2,000 MASL.

The coffee is produced by CAPCKI, a small organic co-operative of 380 farmers based along the road between Goma and Bukavu.

Although CAPCKI can produce several containers of high-quality fully washed coffee each season, its coffee was previously sold mainly within the Congolese market. Keynote Coffee became the co-operative’s first international buyer, helping bring these coffees to roasters farther afield.

Now it has reached Dublin.

Dimitri was expecting it.

☕ Tasting Notes

  • Blackberry – ripe, juicy and bursting with dark-fruit flavour
  • Jammy – thick, sticky sweetness with a syrupy finish

It’s bright and fruity as a straight espresso, while milk makes it rounder, sweeter and even more jammy.

Clean enough to drink every day.

Strange enough to remember.

🌱 Small Co-operative, Big Energy

CAPCKI is a small micro co-operative working with coffee farmers around Kalungu in South Kivu.

The co-operative supports its farming communities through permanent and seasonal employment, improvements to local roads and water infrastructure, and the distribution of coffee and shade-tree seedlings.

This is an area capable of producing exceptional Arabica coffee, but years of conflict and limited access to international markets made it extremely difficult for farmers to sell their coffee outside the country.

CAPCKI is helping change that—one extremely jammy coffee at a time.

⚡ Why This Coffee Works So Well for Espresso

If you’re looking for fruity espresso coffee in Ireland, Dimitri brings something completely different:

✔ Ripe blackberry sweetness
✔ Thick, syrupy body
✔ Clean and juicy from the fully washed process
✔ Bright and expressive as a straight espresso
✔ Sweet and jammy through milk

It has enough body for flat whites and cappuccinos, while keeping all that wild blackberry character when served black.

🌀 The Experience

First sip—blackberry.

Second sip—everything gets a little more jammy.

Third sip—Dimitri appears in the corner of the room wearing purple sunglasses.

Don’t make eye contact.

Just keep drinking.
