CLASSIC HATHA YOGA

Hatha Yoga was introduced by Yogi Swatmarama in the 15th century in India, it is one of the prominent types of Yoga. Hatha Yoga is the origin of many other styles of Yoga. The word 'hatha', derived from Sanskrit, means the combination of the opposites - ha (meaning Sun) and tha (meaning Moon). It unites the positive (Sun) and negative (Moon) currents in the system. It is mainly concentrated on the third (Asana) and fourth (Pranayams) in the Eight Limbs of Yoga. It aims to attain a balance between the body and mind, through the physical postures of Asanas, purification procedures (Shatkriyas), poses (Mudras), yogic breathing (Pranayams) and meditation. It also aims to pacify the mind through relaxation and meditation techniques.
This class is open to all.

ASHTANGA YOGA OPEN

Ashtanga is a system of yoga made popular by Pattabhi Jois. Linking breath and movement, students move through a set sequence of asanas that purify, strengthen and give flexibility to the body. Ashtanga is a dynamic and spiritual practice all at once.
Open to all levels from complete beginners to more experienced students, with options given for all levels.

Yoga Synergy

Yoga Synergy is based on a deep and sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology, modern medical science and traditional hatha yoga.

Established by Simon Borg Olivier & Bianca Machliss in 1984.

The style of Yoga synergy yoga is hatha yoga based derived from the work of Professor T. Krishnamacharya. Sri Krishnamacharya was the teacher of three very influential yoga masters: Sri B.K.S. Iyengar (author of Light on Yoga); Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (who developed Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga); and Sri T.K.V. Desikachar (author of The Heart of Yoga).

This unique style incorporates asanas (poses and postures), vinyasa(dynamic exercises that combine movement with breath), pranayama (breath control) and meditation. It’s a dynamic moving meditation that links postures with breath.

The practice is safe regardless of how fit you are. It’s suitable for every body, whether you have an injury or have never tried yoga before. It is also a strong challenge for people used to a regular physical practice such as professional dancers, elite athletes and advanced yoga practitioners.

YIN YOGA OPEN

A stilling practice that cultivates a deep sense of awareness through the release of mind and body stresses. An antidote to urban life, Yin focuses on releasing the connective tissue of the body (tendons, ligaments and fascia). Poses are held for long periods, allowing the student to relax as they express patience and quiet.
Open to all levels from complete beginners to more experienced students.

RESTORATIVE YOGA OPEN

Restorative yoga is known for its relaxing, calming and healing effect. You can trace its roots to the yoga of B.K.S Iyengar, who developed a yoga allowing students to practice without any strain or pain. This was developed into a while style of yoga which is considered ideal for those recovering from injuries or illness.Restorative yoga became popular in the 70's mainly thanks to Judith Lasater who herself was a student of Iyengar.

As well as being popular with people recovering from injuries or illness it is also considered ideal to balance the hectic and stressful modern lifestyle a lot of us

Classes tend to be relaxing and slow paced with the whole sequence using as little as five or six postures which are held for a long time.Prop's are also used to make the body as comfortable as possible.
Open to all levels from complete beginners to more experienced students.
